My favorites: Birchbox

Last year, I decided to try Birchbox for a couple of months. I ordered my first box in August 2015. Why? Because I wanted to discover news products, get a little present-to-myself every month, and I chose Birchbox instead of other boxes because they are the easiest to get in Belgium, and only costs 13 per month, shipping costs included. Not bad at all!
Throughout the months, I received some disappointing products (almost empty tubes or products, orange lipstick, a million shampoo bottles, hair bands...) but I also got some really amazing ones. 7 boxes later, I decided to pick my 5 favorite items received from Birchbox and share them with you, 5 being the amount of items you usually receive in a box! Here are my picks!
absolution - La Crème de Teint in "light". Why do I love it? It is suppose to "unifies, soothes, protects" and it's exactly what it does. It's a perfect match for my pale skin - which is hard to find-, the texture is soft and easy to apply. It's a light coverage, but it will definitely last until the end of the day. The smaller - but not too small-  packaging allows me to just take this tube t on holiday or away on a weekend, when you don't want to look like you're overdoing it, but your skin still would love a little help to look smooth and unified (November 15' box).

The Balm - Frat Boy powder blush. I literally fell in love with this blush; it's such a pretty natural shade, it suits my skin so well, does not look artificial at all. It's beautiful. And it does lasts quite well for a blusher. I received a bronzer from the same brand in my August box, but it's the blush that blew me away. I cannot wait to buy the normal size one, how crazy is that! (November 15' box)

Thermaliv - Soin Jour Nouvel'Age, Lavande de la mer, Vitamine A&E. Who knew I love so much items from the November box! I loved this moisturizer for its rich ingredients, its deep effect on my skin, and also for the fact that it was not greasy at all! It moisturizes my dry skin in depth and makes for a smooth application of your makeup. With that cream, you really feel like you are putting something very high end on your face (November 15' box).

Doux me - Comforting scrub mask with marshmallow apricot oil rice powder. First of all, the smell is amazing; sweet, creamy, soothing, but not too strong. Like a strawberry marshmallow ice cream! You put it on your whole face or just your problem zones for 10 to 20 minutes, then you rub it off with warm water, hydrate it straight away, and your skin will feel and look nicer. I do have a sensitive skin so I was afraid of the "scrub" part of the mask, but it's actually very gentile (January 16' box).

Love of Color - Vibrant Matte Lipstick in "skinny dip". Fortunately that month, you could actually choose the color you wanted, between a true red - called "trouble" - a deep berry - "uncorked" - and a pinky nude "skinny dip". I chose the nude because I wanted something casual and pretty. It's very creamy, your lips but better shade, good color pay off and a nice even formulation. I will definitely keep it in my handbag for a couple of months (February 16' box)!

Moreover, I have to say, the design of the boxes themselves really improved over the months. They made a real effort to be on trend, with beautiful colors, prints, and even textures. I usually keep the boxes to store my extra makeup or to keep little things like bandaids, hair ties, bobby pins, etc.
So, what would your perfect box look like?!

  1. Ta box est beaucoup mieux que celle que j'ai eu :) Par contre je n'étais pas fan du produit the balm.

  2. Very good blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I'm planning to start my own site soon but I'm a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I'm completely overwhelmed .. Any tips?
