Asian Supermarket - Review & discoveries

In the centre of Brussels, there's a big asian supermarket called Kam Yuen - Rue de la Vierge Noire 2-4, 1000 Bruxelles. I like to go in there a few times a year, stoll, try new drinks, sweets, sauces, and other unidentified items. That's actually part of the fun; you have to decrypt what's in the product you're holding! You can just go with the flow, find the label funny, buy it, and be completely surprised. I personally love surprises

So.. yeah... I went in this week with a tight budget of 10 € and this is what I got for 9,57 €!

* My guilty pleasure: Japanese style Mochi. Mochis are sweet balls of glutinous rice paste with different flavors inside. My favorites are green tea and red bead and these are the ones I bought this time. It's mushy, soft, gooey, subtle than flavorful, filling, delicious. I originally went shopping just for them because I often crave for them, but then, I got a bit out of control.

* 2 bottles of Aloe vera drink. Juice with floating fibres. It's good, fresh, good for digestion, special, it has a different texture. It can be an alternative to iced tea. However, it can be very sweet, so be careful to take the unsweetened/"natural" ones. I guess, also, that it's a product that you love or you hate. If you are a picky eater or afraid of trying new things, don't spend your money on this - even though it is actually quite cheap for an exotic drink.

* 1 bag of Wasabi peas. An alternative to wasabi covered peanuts, that are delicious, but let's be honest, peanuts are one of the most calorific foods on the face of this planet. So with those wasabi covered peas, you have a very interesting alternative snack. It's crunchy, light and spicy. I used to be very scared of wasabi, thinking it was just too strong for my little sensitive tongue, but I was wrong! Those snacks are very manageable, just don't take 10 of them at once in your mouth.

* I couldn't resist the mama-and-baby-panda-drink! It was just too cute. I think it's red berries flavored, but it's just for the design of the bottle that I bought it (actually to give it to my mom, who's a huge panda fan!). The opening is very weird though. There's 5 steps you have to follow, I hope she'll be able to figure it out.

And that's all for now! Go out there and try something new, you'll see, it's fun!
